So far November is looking better than most of October. My back is finally starting to straighten itself back out. Despite having worked the last two months with what was essentially a slipped disc or “thrown out” back…it’s not hurting as much to walk, sleep, breathe, eat, pee, or laugh. It still hurts, but at a more tolerable level. I also somewhat figured out the problems with the imagehost and I jumped ship to Verizon (Wireless).
After what felt like a whrilwind couple of weeks of doing stuff, I took a break. I had something I had to do on Saturday and I was making sure I was prepped for it. But some things are broken, some things are working, and hamradio life is slipping in to this blog now.
I made a really stupid mistake with my Xen setup at home and deleted a virtual disk with a strange name that wound up powering my network. I also added and have reorganized menus.
Did I find a legitimate bug or do I just not know what I’m doing? I’m going with column B.
I was doing something completely unrelated to what I’ve been doing all day (which is filling the site with stuff, see those menus…they actually have stuff) and noticed my backup script is throwing a few errors. But it’s fine.
I am building my own image host on pickmy.org, when I say image host; I mean something a bit more hacked together than just putting images in a directory and turning autoindex on. But something that’s a cross between imgur and a simple self-hosted image gallery. Here’s what I’ve been able to do, where I need to go from here, and why I’m doing it this way.
It’s been two weeks, I broke something on the server. Every damn time….
Ya, BS. I keep changing stuff. I chalk it up to not knowing what I’m doing combined with 4 A.M. thoughts lying in bed. But one was so damn critical…I actually did it before getting caffeinated this morning. And I thought I didn’t know WTF I was doing…
I made a couple of post-script edits to the original post about the server backup script. Now that I know it works; I decided to start adding to it.
After a bit of reading, guessing, frustration, cursing, and mind-altering substances; I have hacked together something that randomizes things the way I want.
